Welcome to the Inaugural Edition
Of the only newsletter dedicated to Stockton Men's Soccer.
Welcome to The Osprey Insider — your monthly home for everything Stockton men's soccer.
We started this newsletter because the program's story deserves to be told: the dynasty years, the players wearing the kit today, and the road ahead.
Each issue brings you straight talk from Coach Ruttler, a player spotlight, alumni updates, and the kind of inside info you won't find on the athletic department site.
If you've ever pulled on the Osprey jersey — or just love a team that scraps for everything — you're in the right place. Glad to have you.
2025 Results
Last season, Stockton finished 2025 at 10-5-5 with the NJAC's best defense, a No. 2 tournament seed, and a hardware run that included Coach Ruttler's 100th win, NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year, and Uche Wokocha as NJAC Midfielder of the Year.
Mark Your Calendar — Alumni Day
Alumni Day is Saturday, October 10th.
Due to scheduling conflicts, we have not had a home game on Alumni Weekend in 3 years. In 2026, we are back. Alumni day is Saturday, October 10th, vs. Montclair. We hope to see as many of you as possible then.
Come out to alumni day and watch us cheat death. The Golden Boot Award has been an annual tradition that spans decades. Who will be next to sign this most prestigious award?
Player Spotlight: #13 Noah Jones
A senior centerback from Freehold, NJ (Freehold Township HS / Freehold Phoenix), Noah anchors the back line and wears the captain's armband. The résumé so far: NJAC 2nd Team (2024), NJAC Honorable Mention (2025), CSC Academic All-District, NJAC All-Academic.
Coach Ruttler: "Noah's got the talent and the leadership. We're expecting a lot from him this year."
Noah: "Fired up to be wearing the crest one more time. The seniors aren't taking a single day for granted."
The Coach's Corner
Congratulations to Coach Ruttler and his Staff for winning Staff of the Year in 2025.
Each month, we'll feature one of Stockton's coaches for some insider information. In true Coach Ruttler fashion, the first thing he wanted to talk about was Rowan.
"Schedules aren't posted yet, but here is a bit of inside information: we will be playing Rowan twice during the regular season, with the first game being the season opener on Tuesday, September 1st, 6:00 pm at Rowan."
Stories from the Sidelines
The Tale of Two Rafs
Rafael Duarte was a great player and a great guy — but lazy and unfit. So one game, I was riding him hard. "C'MON RAF!!!" "RAF, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" "PICK IT UP, RAF!!!"
The ref kept shooting me side-eye. Finally, he stopped the game, walked over to the bench, and said, "Coach, what is your problem? Why are you giving me such a hard time?"
Turns out — the ref's name was also Rafael. He thought I'd been screaming at him the whole match.
"No, no — you're a good ref! He's the one pissing me off!"
Rest of the game, every time I lit into Duarte: "Remember ref — I'm yelling at HIM!"
Spread the word.
Know an Osprey alum, soccer parent, or someone who still talks about that '02 squad like it was yesterday? Forward this their way. The Insider grows by word of mouth — and every new sub helps us build something that gives back to the program.
Until next time,
We will win. Together!
